Dimly lit restaurant with neatly arranged tables, chairs, and green plants against a large window at night.

It all begins with fear.

For a long time, I resisted opening this concept in Charleston.

Chinese food in America carries a stigma I knew too well - takeout boxes, strip malls, the

assumption that it should be cheap. That perception has nothing to do with the cuisine

itself, and everything to do with how little credit people give to the ingredients,

the technique, the craft behind it.

I was afraid Charleston wasn’t ready. I built it anyway.

Nobody had done this in Charleston. Upscale Chinese - real Cantonese flavors,

real Sichuan heat - in a room that treats the food the way it deserves to be treated.
